Mission Statement.

Our mission is to empower youth using outdoor adventure learning to help them achieve their personal potential. Through outings in the mountains and on the sea, participants will develop a strong foundation for personal health and well-being, expand their understanding of the natural world, and gain skills to manage life’s challenges with confidence.

How it works.

MTNS2SEA partners with alternative high schools to support youth with a weekly, off-campus healing experience in nature. MTNS2SEA is designed to provide youth with tools to manage stress and anxiety, learn ways to enjoy the benefits of nature, build confidence through challenging activities, and develop healthy relationships with peers and caring adult mentors. To achieve lasting impact, each group leaves campus to adventure in nature one day per week for 12-weeks to develop sustained personal growth.

Developing Relationships.

From the Seach Institute, “Strong developmental relationships help young people of every age, race, and socioeconomic background discover who they are, cultivate the ability to shape their own lives and destinies, and learn how to positively contribute to the world.” The MTNS2SEA adventures give us the perfect platform to teach about and build these relationships. Humans are social beings and MTNS2SEA creates a safe space for youth to be themselves and a platform to express their fears, hopes, and goals. Youth with strong developmental relationships show positive growth in social emotional learning and engage in less high-risk behaviors. The MTNS2SEA approach gives the youth multiple opportunities to learn and heal over time and develop lasting relationships with the staff, community members, and their peers.
