Mission Statement.

Our mission is to empower youth using outdoor adventure learning to help them achieve their personal potential. Through outings in the mountains and on the sea, participants will develop a strong foundation for personal health and well-being, expand their understanding of the natural world, and gain practical life skills.

How it works.

MTNS2SEA partners with schools in Santa Cruz County to provide weekly outdoor adventure outings to youth enrolled in alternative programs. The program focuses on providing new experiences in the outdoors, building leadership skills, nurturing social-emotional development, and participating in environmental stewardship work. We believe getting youth outside to experience the natural world is critical and nature provides the catalyst for change and empowerment.

Cultivating Compassion.

Aside from getting to engage in fun and new experiences, our weekly adventures are intentional about developing the self, overcoming challenges, and communicating with others. We engage with each other and our community with compassion for ourselves, others, and the environment. By focusing on cultivating compassion, students learn about themselves and gain a new perspective of the people and the world around them.
