Shaka Riders

Our goal is to bring the surf to PVUSD students! Watsonville is a part of Santa Cruz County and yet doesn't have a surf shop and has a very small surf community. This is not due to a lack of interest but a lack of access. The Shaka Riders aims to change that by offering a free program to students  interested in learning how to surf and teaching ocean safety.

For me surfing changed my life and I want other students to experience this transformation as well. After a friend first took me out I was instantly hooked but also scared entering sport as a young girl. Through surfing I met some of the kindest people ever and learned that it is enough just to show up. Surfing has given me self confidence, taught me many lessons and brought me endless joy.  I want to share this with everyone so anyone in this area who wants to learn should at least be given the option!
